Stopovers in Istanbul, Turkey, November 2025
I've been wanting to discover Istanbul for a long time...
For the outward and return journeys, I was afraid that the initial two-hour stopover would be too short. So I opted for a nine-hour stopover.
Turkish Airlines offers city tours during long layovers, so the decision was made more easily.
On the way out, I took part in a night visit, with a break at the Hippodrome of Constantinople.
On the way back, a photo break on the Galata Bridge allowed us to admire the view of the historic peninsula.
Right next to the tour check-in, you can leave luggage for a few euros or Turkish lira, only in cash.
The tours offered by Turkish Airlines are interesting, but they involve a lot of time spent on the bus for the round trips.
Line 11 allows you to reach the city from the airport in about an hour, with fixed schedules independent of traffic.
This solution offers more freedom to organize your travel and manage your time.
It is therefore better to prepare your own schedule and enjoy the city to the fullest for a few hours.
I would like to thank Turkish Airlines for this initiative, which allows us to get a glimpse of the city. And to make you want to come back…
