An evening in the Provençal hinterland, April 8, 2017
Finally, we are complete Dominique and Alain. Patrick will join us later. Here we go on the small roads of Provence towards the Bastide d'Astres. We follow the highway, a sign of civilization, but we quickly enter the small roads. The crossing of Coudoux was brief, no time to admire the old village houses, we are expected for a pancake evening.
After Coudoux, life seems to have stopped despite the rare cars that we pass. The road is narrow and climbs, but we are moving forward surely.
Where does this road lead, I wouldn't have time to think about it. Doumette yells "Left" at me. A simple dirt road sinks into the night. Then we cross two columns emerging from nothingness... A hedge winds its way through the night with small pedestals straight out of the past. Then a majestic mansion appears in the night. Lit from all sides, it looks like a lighthouse in the middle of the ocean. This place seems steeped in history... As we approach, life reappears, we hear a musical background that becomes clearer as we approach.... The starry sky is conducive to daydreaming...
Special thanks
Thanks to Doumette, Mylène, Patrick, Alain and André for this beautiful evening at the Bastide d'Astres.
Are we still in the 21st century?
