Cucuron, France, Avril 2026
In Cucuron, life flows gently around the pond lined with hundred-year-old plane trees...
The plane trees border the large rectangular pool, where the water reflects the blond stones of the village and the light of the Luberon. The narrow streets then invite you to stroll, between history and Provençal simplicity, in a calm rhythm punctuated by markets and summer evenings.
Here, the Luberon imposes its rhythm: that of fragrant markets, lively terraces and summer evenings that seem to never end.
The village of Cucuron developed in the Middle Ages around its ramparts and its agricultural activity.
In the seventeenth century, it was structured with the creation of its large rectangular basin on the pond, designed to store and regulate water, in particular to supply the mills.
This organisation reflects a rural life focused on vines, olive trees and the crops of the Luberon. The ancient heritage, still clearly visible today, bears witness to this enduring Provençal history.
A big thank you Alain for this walk in Cucuron as well as this stop in Vaugines for the church of Saint-Barthélemy de Vaugines.
Some photos of this beautiful place with the Etang basin transformed into an ice rink.
Away from the village of Vaugines, the Church of Saint-Barthélemy de Vaugines is located at the foot of the Luberon, surrounded by fields and agricultural landscapes that give it a simple and secluded atmosphere.
It is precisely this natural, bright and typically Provençal setting that seduced the teams of the film "Manon des Sources".
Since its release, the place has attracted film lovers and visitors, but "they won't see the Papé", this scene now belongs to the history of the film and not to the real setting. But Alain played the role of the "Papé", which suits him well
