There are many temples in the cities. They are generally places of tranquility and meditation, like the Renshou temple in Foshan, whose modern architecture nevertheless preserves the spiritual atmosphere. The Ancestral Temple, also in Foshan, on the other hand, is an exception to this serenity: the screams of the students and the demonstrations of kung fu resonate there, infusing a vibrant energy into this place steeped in history.
You can even find on a street corner, a simple recess with a deity. Or in a part under a cave, as in Zhaoqing.

Turtles are very present in temples in China. Having a turtle under your roof has long protected the family and the home.
Taoist and Buddhist temples all had turtles. Symbolizing protection is logical, with its large shell, the turtle is well protected ! It also symbolizes stability, longevity, immortality, and wisdom. |
