This island bordered on both sides by the Rhône. The Palace of the Popes is clearly visible there as well as the Pont d'Avignon (Pont Saint-Bénézet). We were unlucky since the Tour de la Campane is hidden by scaffolding due to the renovation of the Palace.
We then crossed the 2nd arm of the Rhône to pass in front of the Tour Philippe-le-Bel and go to Fort Saint-André. A really well-preserved fort that is worth a little detour. The town of Villeneuve-Lès-Avignon is also full of old stones.
Due to the uncertain weather, we did not walk the streets of Avignon and the Palais des Papes. However, I advise you to stroll there when the weather is nice.
